This is the live, in-person offering of this course. This will take place at 4243 Hunt Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45242 on March 19th from 4p-7p and is part of our Purity & Porn two-day training.

Purity culture often leaves clients with lasting shame, fear, and disconnection around sex and their bodies. This training will help therapists understand the core messages of purity culture and how those messages impact clients’ sexual development, relationships, and sense of self. You’ll learn how to support clients in deconstructing shame, reconnecting with their bodies, and developing a sexual ethic grounded in their own values. Practical tools and interventions will be provided for both individual and couples work.

Course Objectives

1. Describe the psychological and relational impacts of purity culture on clients’ sexual development and functioning.
2. Identify core messages of purity culture and the ways these may present in clinical settings.
3. Demonstrate values-based and trauma-informed interventions that support clients in deconstructing sexual shame.
4. Apply body-based, narrative, and psychoeducational tools to help clients reclaim agency, pleasure, and sexual self-trust.
These objectives meet CK-C, CK-B, and CK-M for AASECT Sex Therapy Certification requirements.
