Sex Therapy 101

Expanding Knowledge & Exploring Biases

Sex Therapy 101 is a training designed for those who are interested in learning more about sex therapy and how to incorporate it into their practice as well as for learning how to take a more sex positive approach with clients to be more inclusive in their work. We will cover topics such as common diagnoses that come up in sex therapy, differences between sex positivity and sex negativity and how to reframe language to be more inclusive, how spirituality and the language used in religious contexts can impact perceptions of sex(uality), typical interventions used in sex therapy, and more. Our goal is to help providers feel more confident in discussing sexual concerns with their clients in a way that reduces shame and promotes open dialogues to create lasting, therapeutic change.

This training will clarify some of the foundational concepts and therapeutic techniques utilized in sex therapy as well as present sex positivity as a way for approaching sex therapy.  During this training, you will learn about why sex therapy is its own branch within the counseling field, learn about common diagnoses that sex therapists tend to see, as well as different treatment interventions utilized to address these concerns. You will also learn about ways to modify your language/challenge your own biases around different sexual stigma that exist in our culture.

Stepping Outside of the "Norm"

Next offered October 7, 2022 from 9:00am to 12:15pm EST!

Sex Therapy 102 is a training designed for those practitioners who want more working knowledge on specific populations they may come in contact with in their clinical work. This training goes more in-depth into research and interventions regarding effective communication skills, the difference between monogamy and various forms of consensual non-monogamy; the BDSM community; and out-of-control sexual behavior. You will also learn about ways to modify your language/challenge your own biases around different sexual stigma that exist in our culture. Our goal is to help providers feel more confident working with these populations and can feel effective with their clients.

Becoming a Poly Informed Clinician

Consensual Non-Monogamy is often misunderstood and stigmatized. With non-monogamous relationships continuing to become more mainstream, this training is geared toward helping clinicians become more competent so that they can help their clients.

This course is currently only CE approved by AASECT and is pending additional CE approval.

Sexual Reconnection After Hardships

Rediscovering Sexual Self After Sexual Trauma or Infidelity

Next offered November 4, 2022 from 10am to 12pm EST

Experiencing some sort of trauma whether it’s sexual assault or betrayal from an affair can be challenging for both individuals and couples and can take a toll on one’s sex life. This training is designed for you, as a clinician, to help your clients who have done the work of processing some of the major triggers that have come up around their trauma and are now interested in learning how to reconnect with their partner(s) (or connect to themselves) sexually. In this training, you will learn skills to help your clients explore who they want to be now as a sexual being and how to comfortably explore ways of engaging with themselves and/or their partner(s) sexually.

This course is currently only CE approved by AASECT and is pending additional CE approval.
